Mrs. Deirdre Body, owner of the lush and stylish beauty parlor ‘Bodytreats Ennistymon’ is just the definition of a lady!

Deirdre and her fabulous team down in Body Treats Ennistymon http://www.bodytreats.ie/ have invited me to attend the amazing masterclasses, given me stunning makeovers and even printed my face on fake nails!

Not to mention the support I've gotten from Deirdre in regards to my blog. I really cant believe the amount of time and effort she put into this interview and I am simply over the moon with it.

[if !supportLists]1. [endif]You’ve built up your beauticians since 1991 How did you begin?

I started out by having 1 room in a hairdressers (Hair Design/Anne Stackpoole) in Lahinch to test the waters and see if there was enough requests for a beauty salon in the area.

I spent 3 months there and knew after that short period that the business was here.

We're now working from a beautiful 3 storey building with 7 specialised treatment rooms.

[if !supportLists]2. [endif]When did you decide to open up your own place?

I had been teaching in The Galligan college of Beauty in Limerick prior to opening and thought if there were people travelling from West Clare to do these courses, there must be an interest in providing the service in the West.

So after that trial period of 3 months in Lahinch, I decided to take the plunge in Ennistymon as it has a great catchment area with people having to pass through from Doolin, Lisdoonvarna, Liscannor etc.

Ennistymon is such a great little business town catering for all professional needs from your dentist to solicitors/accountants etc. But the one thing they didn't have in 1991 was a beauty salon, so I saw the opening. 3. [endif]Who inspires you?

I would say that I meet inspirational people everyday in my line of work.

I love to meet people,interact with them and make new friends!

I look forward to that each day and nearly always go home in awe of something special that one of my clients has shared with me.

So I would say that people inspire me, ordinary, everyday people that pass

through unnoticed are so inspirational without even knowing it themselves.

4. You have a gorgeous girl yourself, do you think she’ll follow in Mams footsteps?

Chria is the most beautiful person inside and out.

She has people skills beyond her years and to answer your question, she never ceases to amaze me with comments she comes out with that blow me away with maturity.

I can definitely see Chria doing something where she has to interact with people, who knows? But I think she'll spread her wings further than me.

5. [endif]So tell us about your recent win ; Make-Up Artists of the year 2015 in the Wedding Journal Online Reader Awards.

We have had a phenomenol 2015 having won a;

1.Wedding Award from RSVP magazine

2. Named Best Beauty Therapist in Clare from RSVP

3. Finalist in Mrs2Be Wedding awards

4. Nominated in Hi Magazine and Irish Times for Best Beauty Salon

5. Definitely the high light of our year was winning- The Wedding Journal's Make-Up artist of the year award !

We entered the competition in February and were told in April that we had made it to the top 5 in the country but thanks to the massive support we received from our friends and family we brought the title back to Ennistymon after a glamorous awards ceremony in the Gibson hote in Dublin last May.

[if !supportLists]6. Any other upcoming events/ projects you want to talk about?

This year 2016, we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary so we have a few surprises instore that are under wraps at the moment. We're so proud of this achievement and definitely want to mark the occasion so WATCH THIS SPACE

[if !supportLists]7. What is your favourite aspect of your beauty parlour? The nails, eyebrow treatments, makeup etc.

Gel nails & make-up have always been a favourite part of my work.

I have a huge interest in art and love treatments where I can be creative and see something beautiful at the end.

I have 2 wonderful girls working with me, Cameille & Orla, who I simply could not do it without.

It's important that we can all do every treatment in the salon so that we can help each other out when we're under pressure but I don't think any one person can master it all, everyone has their favourite areas and it's good to master that one treatment you love and specialise in it.

I think if I tried to do everything I would master nothing so there comes a time when you realise that the making of a successful business is to have staff who give exceptional treatments and let them specialise in their chosen area.

I think the three of us compliment each other as we seem to have particular interests in different treatments.

[if !supportLists]8. [endif]So tell us about your master classes for those who haven’t attended, how much they cost how to book and what benefit they are to those who sign up?

We've had a few make-up masterclasses this year with some of the most renowned MUA s in the field eg.,Tara O'Farrell (Tara Make-up) & Michelle Regazzoli-Stone (MRS Make-up) hosted in the salon.

Classes cost @€70 for a 2 hour demonstration from the cream of the crop in their fields.

Topics included differ from class to class, again everyone has their own area of expertise but the most common requests always catered for and answered are usually on; 🔺Skincare (which we are happy to give FREE DERMALOGICA face mapping/advice on by appointment) 🔺Correct foundation choice 🔺Contour techniques 🔺Smokey eye 🔺Strobing/Highlighting 🔺Perfecting a red carpet look for that special occasion 🔺How to make your make-up last 🔺The best brushes to use

The latest product added to our Dermalogica list is 'HydraBlur'.

Just as the name suggests this primer diminishes fine lines and pores without feeling heavy and greasy.

Half your work is done before you even apply foundation!

This little gem is great for everyday wear, make-up artists all over have fallen in love with it.

It retails at @ €45 and is definitely one of those little miracle products to 'blur' the fine lines.

[if !supportLists] Ooooh this year, a major make-up haul.

After our last masterclass with MRS make-up I have a really big MAC wish list and a bottle of Jo Malone's pomegranate noir would be lovely too

12. [endif]Any words of advice for people who want to open up their own business like you?

Starting out on your own in any business can be daunting especially in these challenging times.

I believe if you just work for money, you'll never make it, but if you love what you're doing and you always put the customer first, success will be yours.

[if !supportLists]13. [endif]Whats your favourite and least favourite part of what you do?

I really love the business and marketing side of the business now too.This has come as something new to me in recent years and it never ceases to amaze me how small the world is through digital networking and what an invaluable asset social media is to business.We certainly would not have had the success of recent years if it had not been for our online work along side the practical side to the salon.The down side is,I get engrossed in it and don't know when to stop but..... I love it,so it doesn't feel like work.

14. [endif]Where do you see Body Treats in the next ten years?

I always say, there can only be one boss: THE CUSTOMER.

And she can fire everybody in the business, even the proprietor simply by spending her money somewhere else.

I'm not interested in going bigger but I am always eager to keep up to date with all things beauty related and bring the best to the west.

There's enough out there for everyone and so long as I am happy and my family are catered for I feel very blessed with all that I have so far.
