So Sue Me Interview
With over 1.1milion readers a month,a huge demand for her master classes, a nationwide following a best selling athour, a series of self-named prodcuts including lashes, nail polish etc, to name a few of the vast amount of things this wonder woman does!
The fact that this lady, in every sense of the word, took the time out to answer these questions, really was amazing to me.
I want to thank Sue and her PA Tara King who both replied to me straight away, and for taking time out to do this interview.
So what are Sues fashion staples? Her go-to beauty products? Read on to find out!
You have 1.1 million readers a month, a huge demand for your services and a nationwide following, and yet you have time to reply to emails from your fans including mine. Where do you find the time? Are you very scheduled and organised?
Yes I’m extremely organised! I have to be! Being a full-time blogger is a 24/7 job so if I wasn’t super-organised, my life would be chaos.
I think I’d be completely lost without my phone, my Filofax and my laptop.
As a full-time blogger, they’re the tools of the trade so as you can imagine, they go everywhere with me.
I’m also lucky in that I have a really great team around me that help with aspects outside of the blog itself, such as my workshop and my accounts.
Talk to us about your agency 1st Options model management
I am represented by 1st Option which is run by the wonderful Jules Fallon.
They manage my bigger bookings and appearances.
You and your sister Carla seem super close; do you both steal each others beauty products and clothes like typical sisters?
Yes all the time! She regularly raids my tan drawer!
What are your GO-TO products for a night out
At the moment I love the YSL lipstick Rouge Le Orange.
It’s a beautiful orangey/red shade.
I also love the Armani Luminous Silk foundation for this time of year.
A nice highlighter is definitely a must for a night out - I particularly love MAC Soft & Gentle or theBalm’s Mary Loumanizer.
Other go-to products would include items such as my Carli Bybel eyeshadow palette, my Crownbrush UK contour palette, a good mascara and a black eyeliner.
Rimmel and No7 have some good mascaras.
I really like the Inglot gel liner and in particular, the Rimmel Glam Eyes liner.
How do you see the future for sosueme? What are your goals for the next few years?
At the start of each New Year I write down a number of short term and long terms goals for myself.
Even the biggest most outlandish dream is written down on paper!
The thing is, I don’t tell anyone what those goals are until they are near completion! All I can say is, a number of projects are in the works at the moment so the future is looking pretty exciting for SoSueMe!
Could there be another book in the making?
At the moment I have no immediate plans for a third book as I poured everything into the first two, but down the road, who knows?
You are constantly attending events, teaching master classes, and travelling. How do you stay so glamorous on the road?
Like a lot of busy ladies, I have honed the skill of applying makeup in a rush! I try to prepare as much in advance as I can, things like nails, tan, eyelashes, etc.
Any words for young girls aspiring to be well-known and established bloggers like yourself?
Be persistent, and above all, be prepared for a lot of hard work. People look at the Instagram and Snapchat accounts of well-known bloggers and immediately assume that the blogging business is so glamorous but trust me, there’s A LOT of long hours and hard work involved. I think full time bloggers will agree with me when I say that blogging can also be very lonesome. Quite a lot of the time it’s just you in your room typing out posts on your laptop.
Are there any bloggers that you, yourself admire?
There’s a good few I follow, but I would be a big fan of Chiara Ferragni.
Who is your favourite designer?
I recently got to try out Zoe Jordan’s new range for a video and photoshoot I did with Lil-lets. Those pieces were amazing so at the moment, I have to say I am loving her work. I was also at the Balmain/H&M launch and those pieces are to-die-for too!
What are your top five fashion staples?
A good leather jacket is a must. I have so many of them but I know I will have them for years.
I also think it’s worth investing in a good pair of jeans because you’ll get so much wear out of them.
A white shirt is a classic staple and definitely worth splashing out on. You can spot a good quality white shirt a mile away.
I always believe it’s worth investing in a good pair of shoes or boots.
The only two things I buy designer are shoes and handbags. Once you have a good handbag and a good pair of shoes, you will look well-dressed.
Confidence wise, how do you prepare yourself for your events? Your master classes, your appearances?
Even though I’m used to it now, I do still get a little nervous before big events. When a touch of the butterflies occur, I just give myself a pep talk. There’s also nothing like a cup of tea to prepare you for anything!
Any recent products that you’ve tried that you would like to recommended?
L’Occitane Crème Divine is amazing. It was in my drawer for ages but it was only very recently that I got around to trying it. I had run out of my Juliette Armand moisturiser so I used the L’Occitane one and I was bowled over by how good it was. Definitely recommend it.
The Garnier Miscellar Water is another great product I can’t recommend highly enough!
What are your favourite colours coming out this season for Winter/16
Bottle green is my current favourite! I love it so much I include it in my SOSU Autumn/Winter collection under the name Poison Apple.
Any ideas of what you’re going to add on your Christmas list this year?
I don’t really want anything for Christmas to be honest. I’m so happy with everything I have right now. I have the best readers, a job I absolutely love, and this December, myself and Dylan have booked our dream holiday to the Maldives so I really couldn’t wish for anything more!
Do you have any future projects or events coming up that you’d like to talk about?
This December, I am bringing out SOSU Nail Polish remover in 3 different scents.
It’s acetone-free but still really a strong remover – one swipe and the nail polish is gone!
I also have a SOSU Christmas gift box set launching in December. It will contain bestselling polishes from the range as well as one of the new removers.
They are currently being rolled out so I’m looking forward to seeing them in pharmacies very soon.
