Kate McGlennon - Former Miss Clare
After winning Miss Clare, featuring in a number of newspapers and being approached by Big Brother, Kate McGlennons interview is not one to be missed!
Find out how she started, her fashion staples and where she is ging from here....
Q1. HOW DID YOU START MODELLING...
I have always been interested in the modelling industry even as a child I constantly wanted the camera on me and maybe that's where the desire steamed from, I'm not really sure I did my first photo shoot at 16 for a local hairdressers Mimi's Hair Salon in Ennistymon.
After that I decided I would give it a proper go once I had finished secondary school. I then decided to enter Miss Clare at the timid age of 17 and from then on I reckon I must have been bitten by the bug as I then went on to enter Miss Clare another 2 times, came first runner up in Miss Sunday world 2013 and came in the top 3 in Miss Irish Sun.
Q2. HOW DID YOU END UP DOING MISS CLARE..
I saw an advertisement for Miss Clare in the local paper and it was always something I had wanted to do so I took the opportunity and put my name down.
I was the youngest in the competition the first time I entered but I really grew from the experience so after that I decided some day I definitely wanted to be a Miss Clare and follow in the footsteps of the former Miss Clares.
I entered Miss Clare a total of 3 times before winning in 2014. I truly believe that if you want something so bad and you put in the work to get you where you want to be, you will succeed.
The more I entered Miss Clare the more it motivated me to do well.
Q3. WHAT DID IT FEEL LIKE TO WIN...
I was overjoyed to be crowned Miss Clare 2014.
I worked hard for it and after 3 years of being in the competition I finally reached my goal so I felt huge satisfaction.
I was so thankful to everyone who supported me. I could not wait for what the year ahead had in store for me.
Q4. COULD THERE BE A MISS IRELAND IN THE FUTURE?
I entered Miss Clare in hope of making it to Miss Ireland to show myself and other young girls from rural areas like Clare that we can be just as good and that it is possible to follow your dreams
I do believe that one day there could me a Miss Ireland from county Clare, you just have to go for it, follow your dreams and work towards achieving them. It's all about hard work, motivation and confidence.
Q5. DO YOU SEE YOURSELF BEING A GEORGIA OR ROSANNA...
I dont actually see myself as being either a Georgia salpa or rosanna Davidson to be honest. Earlier this year I was featured in the Irish Sun newspaper as being "a hot ringer for Georgia".
Who wouldn't be delighted with that as Georgia is gorgeous, iv always admired her but I want to work towards bettering myself and leaving my own individual mark on the industry.
I believe that you are best at being yourself, nobody can do it like you can so why try to do it like someone else when your best at being you that's the motto I have always followed, just be yourself
I do admire both Georgia and Rosanna and their work and one day I would love to be as successful as these women so I will keep working towards that goal!
Q6. WHAT RECENT EVENTS HAVE YOU DONE..
I have been busy all year with college and placement as I'm studying to be a midwife so my time is somewhat limited at the minute.
I have done some stand in work for a TV series which was very fun and interesting as I was working on set and got a great insight into the work that happens back stage.
I was also approached to audition for Big Brother this year gone, I did over the phone interviews and the audition was in London but I decided that Big Brother wasn't really for me and not the path I wanted to take at that time but I was very grateful at being approached about it.
Q7. WHAT HAS LIFE BEEN LIKE AFTER MISS CLARE.. WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW?
I had an amazing year as Miss Clare.
I met some lovely people and was lucky to have been given the chance at being involved in such a great experience.
Now that my reign as Miss Clare has come to an end I am focusing on my studies for the time being.
I'm studying midwifery in Dundalk and although it's difficult to juggle both study and modelling I am close to Dublin so if I'm free it's easy travel down to Dublin to do a shoot so I'm lucky that way!
Q8. WHAT ARE YOUR 5 FASHION STAPLES..
I don't exactly have particular fashion staples some days I like to just lounge around in my pjamas and then other days I love getting dolled up I do like a nice pair of boots and some faux fur but as I'm a student funds are low so Christmas is my time for splashing out and shopping I do love a good day of shopping, what girl doesn't
Q9 ARE YOU SIGNED WITH AN AGENCY?
Yes I am signed to an agency in Dublin called Frazers Models and Actors and from the name you can tell they are a diverse agency covering anything from shoots, commercial work and TV work so they are a very good agency if you are into a range of work.
Q10 ANY FUTURE PROJECTS
I don't exactly have anything lined up as of yet.
I am on placement with college since September so my time is somewhat limited but hopefully the new year will bring some new opportunities.
I am planning on doing a shoot or two over the Christmas holidays but we will just have to what and see
Q11 FAV PRODUCTS IN YOUR MAKEUP BAG..
I enjoy doing makeup and glamorising myself but I don't wear makeup on and regular basis so my everyday makeup bag is fairly bleak.
I do love my urban decay palettes,
my mac soft and gentle highlighter and some nude lippy I
love watching tutorials on YouTube and reading bloggers reviews of newly released products.
That's all from Kate for now
